A night that is starting up in London has asked me to design them a logo and flyer, really open brief which gave me a lot of room for experimentation. The type was all done using the line tool on illustrator to really give the night its own identity. I used a simple black and white aesthetic to hopefully reduce print costs, especially for larger prints which could just be photocopied.
The finished Logo Design and both sides of the flyer to be printed on A6 - the second design was a later edition around 2 months later showing the progression and adaptation of the original branding. The type on the logo is meant to represent the name of the brand but has some room for adaptation and development.
The second logo design was based around a more specific criteria using the original design but adding the leopard texture behind. Enjoyed working with music after a personal progression through enterprise and deciding what I want to do but I need to make sure next job I complete I write a full invoice first.

Audio Doughnuts
Got asked to produce a logo for London based Record label / nightclub event Audio Doughnuts
Had a brief phone call to discuss some ideas and here is the email regarding this conversation...
Hey bro,
Following on from our phonecall I'm emailing in regards to the Audio Doughnuts re-brand. We're really looking for something visual, something which when you see it you will know its the Audio Doughnuts logo.
We want both a trademark logo and also registered logo. Basically similar to the rinse fm 'R' being the trademark and the overall Rinse logo being the registered logo. So a symbol or itwined text "AD" might be good. I have attached a little something I knocked up. I'd say this is a decent directional approach to the logo.
If you could do a few variations of "AD" and also Audio Doughnuts that would be good. Keep it professional looking. Keep in mind that we're a record label as well as a club night so take a look at some of the logos such as: Rinse / FWD / Apple Pips / XL Recordings / Swamp 81 / Black Atlantic / Night Slugs / EMI / Virgin / Hypderdub / Kool Kids Club / Tempa They all have very strong visual branding and have good ways to follow on with the logo for releases, nights etc etc.
This is really what we're looking for. I have also attached the flyer for our 1st Anniversary gig to you can get an idea of where we're heading in terms of branding. Keep the typical doughnut imagery in mind although this is not essential you may think outside the box. If you could pop me over a whole bunch of different ideas that would be great so we can go through them mix and match and see what works.
Thanks a lot bro!

Mc Evaluation
Brief evaluation of working with people from the Mc Mash Clan, was nice to experience the client / designer communication. Also they were really happy with what I did and asked to see some links to my own work. They were particularly impressed with the way in which I organised and sent the files. I put each visual element in its own folder and Although I sent a few examples over it made me realise I need a more organised and professional online space as nothing I have at the moment reflects my current work.
The client did however say he would be in contact and would be passing out my email address so it was defiantly a worthwhile experience.

Mc Mash Clan 2
After a few phone calls and some more emails these were the final specifications in relation to designs and file types...
We are virtually there. Attached is the three skulls which we liked. The only change is that I have found the perfect spiral which I used to create the spiral eye (inverted the original which is attached and then chose screen blending mode).
Can you or your friend please copy what I have done using the exact shape of the spiral? (It's a small original so perhaps you need to make a new vector of it somehow!?)
Then can you please send the original large files in multiple file types? PDF, GIF, EPS, PSD and/pr AI. Please send both the last versions of the word (The McMash Clan) and also the three skulls attached. For the skulls use either of the longer/stretched versions of the skulls.
This is an image of the final 3 skulls and text layout, there was to many different variations to post on here but the client was happy with the different results.

Mc Mash Clan
Got asked by a friend over summer to finish off some work while he was on holiday (for a small fee). I simply edited the designs, the ideas / type etc were all designed by him I just made slight alterations. Was none the less an insight into how the designer / client world works.
These were the first changes that they asked for.
"1) Talking of the 4 versions of the font which you sent over last, we like the letter spacing of the second but the simplicity of the third. Can you take the third and move the letters together to be the same spacing as the second. Then, obviously, a few spikes will need shifting so that they don't touch. Finally can you try adding one spike to the right hand side of the 'e' so that each word has spikes on both sides.
2) In terms of the skulls we like the flower eyes from the first version, the top lighting eyes from the second versions, then can you have one more try at the spirals. We like the new version much better than the first. Can you try a spiral that starts thicker and gets narrower until its a point? Can this happen in quite a chunky way , i.e. not too many spirals (which get blurred when its printed small.
3) Finally we like the second version of the skull shapes. Can you try to ever so slightly stretch them?
Before & after images of the changes that I made...
The finished text is the kerned top version, the image below is the file that my friend sent me...
The bottom set of skulls are the altered designs...
