Clothes / Printing

Initially looking at t shirt suppliers as one aspect of our proposed company was to make and sell T shirts as a side project. I have listed a few different possibilities but need to think about the relationship with print and if it would work out more cost effective to get the t shirts and printing done from the same place.

We said that we were aimed to price the t shirts around £20 - £30, this was based on the current market with many brands upping the quality of their t shirts as well as the price. As the T shirts will only play a small part of the income for the studio we weren't worried so much about profit but more about offering high quality / long lasting clothing. We feel this will say something about the design that we aim to produce for our clients.

American Apparell
I've been on the website and ordered a catalogue showing me details on wholesale etc. The quality and fit of the clothes is high enough for the prices we want to sell the shirts, but whether they offer enough of a unique element. I have applied for a wholesale account but I don't know if it will go through, so I emailed them asking for a specific set of prices. The image below is the email I sent into customer service.

Printshop - Leeds
Two ex Leeds College of Art graphics students run print shop which is close so we could go and pick up the prints to save on delivery costs. The T shirts are not necessarily the quality that we wanted but if we were to go with them it would be an faster process, saving us looking for T shirts then finding a printers from there.

Merch Asylem Cardiff - Website
Heard some really good reviews and after looking through their website the quality of their prints is extremely high with custom jobs available.

Awesome Merchandise - Website
Another reliable printers, this one some what more commercial but it is possible to get the labels printed there as well which could save on costs. Also need to think what effect the printers will have on how we are viewed as a studio, our ethics and commercial viability? Would choosing a commercial printers ruin our not so commercial attitude?
