I like
Pentagram
Pentagram is the world's largest independent design consultancy. The firm is owned and run by 16 partners, a group of friends who are all leaders in their creative fields.
We work in London, New York, Berlin and Austin. We design everything: architecture, interiors, products, identities, publications, posters, books, exhibitions, websites, and digital installations.
Each of our clients works directly with one or more of our partners. This reflects our conviction that great design cannot happen without passion, intelligence and a personal commitment, which is demonstrated by a portfolio of work that spans five decades.
This is not the sort of 'About me' that I want for my design or the sort of place I would like to work. However it is written for a design consultancy not just graphic design studio, and I am actually really keen on the last sentence, it rounds off the rest of the text and shows that even larger companies can work on a very personal level. It denotes a professional and reliable consultancy using a formal tone of voice explaining their global presence.
Coast
"Coast is a creative studio working in the fields of branding, creative
direction and graphic design. Our approach is global. We use research
methods and creative processes to develop new ways of communication to
help entrepreneurs and brands interact better with their audiences. Our
work can vary from the global rebranding of Belgacom (the first telecom
brand in Belgium) to creating audience experiences for Vendredi Chic
(online blog-shopping)."
A Friend Of Mine
A Friend of Mine, run by Suzy Tuxen, is a holistic design practice
based in Melbourne. Every project undertaken is approached
intelligently, communicated creatively and crafted with passion. We
develop long lasting relationships with our clients to build a strong
foundation on which considered thinking and design can add value to
their businesses and realise their visions.
We work across a mix of industry sectors and design disciplines, adapting creative thinking to varied budgets. From developing brand identities to fitting out shops — and everything in between.
Recognising that the best results are often achieved by artistic and multidisciplinary collaborations, when appropriate we draw on a range of ‘friends’ at the peak of their respective fields to give results which exceed expectation and excite our clients.
We make thoughtful and apposite responses to the needs of our clients. Our work is designed to function across all applications – digital, analogue and environmental. Our creations are always bespoke and often involve specifically developed typefaces and marques.
A growing proportion of our work is made for the screen – websites, broadcast sequences and films. Yet in many respects, Spin is a traditional design studio. We value intelligent creative thinking and demand high levels of craft and finishing, and we always meet deadlines.
In counterpoint to these traditional virtues, our collaborative process promotes experimentation. We see it as a fundamental requirement that we push beyond the boundaries of the commissions we receive to make impactful and effective outcomes and add measurable value.
Our clients come from many different sectors. They range from the global to the local. Similarly, the projects we undertake are diverse, and range from the small to the monumental.
Our studio culture is vibrant and we actively involve ourselves in promoting graphic design and raising awareness about the subject through lectures and the books we publish through Unit Editions, a publishing company we set up in 2008. Spin founder and Creative Director Tony Brook is a member of AGI – a professional body comprising the world's leading graphic designers.
Spin has won numerous awards nationally and internationally, though our primary focus is always on ensuring the successful outcome of the individual commissions we undertake, not on adding trophies to our shelves.
